Did the GTS come in a manual or no?

Thank you, easy answer then. Also, I tried driving your car without any traction control or assists in Forza, and I flipped it. A lot. It must be fun on a track. I was going sideways the entire time.

Was it really? That's sad. Then I must change my answer to the Jag.

It's a lot easier to drive in real life compared to Forza 5 :) but I will say that it drives much closer to the real thing in 5 compared to 4. It likes to trail brake and you just have to be sure the car is set/settled before getting back on the power, compression is key.

Some inspiration

"...you just have to be sure the car is se/settled before getting back on the power"

THIS. It's amazing how close the video games can get to the real thing! Thanks for the feedback.

The M3 GTS will let me brag to my friends and put down the best lap times of the day (when no Porsche GT3s are out there) and show up all the pedestrian M3 owners with all my keyrings and accessories. It is the trophy wife that loves to show off and is probably a perfect 10.

If I had the Jag, I would have a slower, less pleasant car and not get nearly as much attention. At the end of the day, I'd park it and get out, start to leave my garage, and look back over my shoulder at it, before promptly having an orgasm in place. The Jag is that kinky bitch from your college sophomore year. She's not winning any awards, but you don't care anymore.

I think the choice is obvious.

I know I'm a bimmer fanboy, but I think this one should be no competition. The M3 GTS is relatively light (curb weight about 3200 lbs), and the XKR-S is some what of a heavy oaf in comparison (around 3600 lbs.) This is all provided we are talking about for track use only.

For a long road trip, XKR-S hands down.

The GTS is shown up by the M3 CSL. IIRC, the GTS cost twice as much and was about 2 seconds faster around the ring. The M3 CSL is the one true king.

Therefore, the JAAAG because I like to pretend I'm a villain.

It's not that I don't like the GTS, it's just that I like the Jag much better.

I misread the post. I thought we were talking track cars for the track.

Now I see it's just track versions of cars.

I'd go Jag too for fun street car.

For track I'd go GTS 10 out of 10 times.

01/28/2014 at 20:07

I don't know about that, the Jag has so much more power, and I hear the 8 speed ZF auto 'boxes are pretty good nowadays.

Kinja'd!!! Manuél Ferrari > Brian Silvestro
01/28/2014 at 20:32

Kinja'd!!!0

I didn't explain why.

Track fun isn't about performance. It's also about running costs, keeping the car on the road, availability of after market parts, and camaraderie.

The BMW is a common track car. Way easier to find bimmer track buddies than Jag track buddies. And so mock knowledge and parts for it.

And the S65 is one of the best track engines ever. It was built to take the abuse and keep on ticking.

Kinja'd!!! Manuél Ferrari > Brian Silvestro
01/28/2014 at 20:33

Kinja'd!!!0

And I don't care what anyone says about how good the ZF AT is.

No slush box should be tracked!!

01/28/2014 at 20:36

Kinja'd!!!0

Damn! You're right. I can't argue with any of those points. Plus, you'll be the envy of all of your bimmer track buddies if you show up in the GTS.

Haha true, I've never even seen a GTS!

These were the only common brands of cars I've seen at track days:

Mazda (Miata)
BMW (various 3 series but usually M3)
GM (Corvette, Camaro)
Ford (Mustang)
Lotus (Elise)
Porsche (Cayman, 911)

I'm trying to think if I'm forgetting any other common cars. I just haven't seen cars like Jags, Supras or Ferraris in big numbers at the open to all track days.

Kinja'd!!! Brian Silvestro > Manuél Ferrari
01/28/2014 at 21:20

Kinja'd!!!0

There are reasons for that.

No one buys Jags (for some stupid reason)

Every tool with modded(ruined) Supra isn't good enough to drive such a car on a track.

The typical Ferrari owner is too fat/old/lazy/rich to drive his/her car like it was meant to.

Kinja'd!!! Manuél Ferrari > Brian Silvestro
01/28/2014 at 22:09

Kinja'd!!!0

I think I can guess the reason that Jags don't sell in bigger numbers (yet)

Their reliability got so bad in the 70s and 80s that everyone lost faith in them. Then to add insult to injury Ford bought them and put Jag badges on some questionable cars.

But they're on the right track now. I personally think they have a better shot of stealing serious 3 Series/A4/C Class sales from Ze Germans than Maserati does. Both companies will eventually have a product for this class but I think the Jag will sell in higher numbers. The Maserati car will probably feel too much like a Chrysler. The Jag will be a Jag.

Haha I'm sure there are some good Supra drivers. But some of them probably do suck. And the poor cars have been beat to hell from too much boost and probably couldn't take the track :(

The typical Ferrari owner doesn't drive the car like it should be. And I bet those that do track days mostly go to Ferrari-only track days.

The 3-series fighter from Jag is going to be amazing, and if Maserati makes one they'll sell fast until people realize it's just a Chrysler. I forgot that supercar brands give track days to owners. I forgot to ask, have you ever gone to one of Porsches track day things? My dad goes every year (I'm not old enough, that makes me very upset) and they let him drive all the cars at Monticello.

Kinja'd!!! Manuél Ferrari > Brian Silvestro
01/28/2014 at 22:19

Exactly. People will buy them until they realize it's just an AWD 200 with Italian leather seats, haha.

Now both of us are upset. I've never been invited to anything like that!

All I got to do was AutoX some Porsches once.

Unrelated - the other day I saw a white Gallardo spider in motion while driving through a residential area. It was a 2009 or later car with the LEDs.

Damn a later model Gallardo looks SO much different than a 2004-2008 car. And the spiders really pop in person.

When I first saw it approaching me from the other side of the street it took my mind a split second to figure out what kind of car it was. After a millisecond I knew it was a Lambo. At first I thought Aventador because it seemed newer than a Gallardo and fancier than a 458. A couple milliseconds later I could tell it was a Gallardo.

It made me think what a good deal that car is used. It really pops. And you can get it with a 6MT...

Don't do that! You'll go to jail. Just go to them and say, "I'm considering buying another Porsche, but I really want to use my car to its full potential. I hear there's this place in LA that does that."

Also, I found the exact video of the thing my dad went to. Very cool.
